SUMMARY

As a member of the multidisciplinary team, directs and coordinates food service and housekeeping activities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate others.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Plans and coordinates standards and procedures of food storage, preparation, and service; equipment and department sanitation; and employee/client safety.
  • Responsible for cleaning of work area and sanitizing of work surfaces, mopping of floors, taking out trash, and completion of other assigned chores.
  • Confers with Dietary Supervisor to ensure that menus and department policies conform to nutritional standards, government regulations, and internal procedures.
  • Reviews individual client's special diet information/needs with Primary Counselor. Provides nutritious meals that meet the client's medical/physical needs. (This does not include personal preferences.)
  • Inspects food, food preparation and storage areas. Ensures that hairnets and gloves are worn by food preparers in both the preparation and serving of the food.
  • Completes weekly department checks, ensuring cleanliness of facility and reports any needed repairs or replacements.
  • Is familiar with company policies and procedures, including safety standards and fire/disaster plans.
  • Demonstrates the ability to lift 25 pounds and/or to assess the lift load in order to request assistance.
  • Supervises the evaluating of leftovers and plans for use; labels, dates and stores leftovers properly.
  • Carries out Master Menu Plan, adjusting for nutritionally equivalent substitutes, outside donations, leftovers, and emergencies; records menu changes.
  • Plans cooking schedules to have food prepared on time, in order to serve hot.
  • Monitors food for correct temperature prior to serving.
  • The employee understands and practices Universal Precautions at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have strong computer skills with ability to type 30 wpm
  • Pass a Background Screening and Drug Test, required
  • Keeps a current CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Valid TN D.L. with "F" endorsement required; "F" endorsement can be obtained once hired.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Higher Learning Degree preferred but not required
  • One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
