Intake Specialist - Admissions Hohenwald Main

JOB TITLE:  Intake Specialist, Admissions, Full-time                                   DEPT: Hohenwald - Main Facility

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Primarily responsible for intake procedure and initial screenings and assessments, and documentation of such, according to specified state regulations
  • Greets incoming clients and assists in making them feel at ease and comfortable in their new surroundings
  • Interviews client while providing for the individual client's confidentiality by making sure there is no one else in the area that would be able to hear and/or see their personal information.  Also handling data entry and documents as necessary for admission and/or discharge information / assessments
  • Orients new admissions to physical environment, facility/program rules and regulations, and their assigned primary counselor
  • Performs file clerk essential duties as needed, depending upon admission schedule
  • Maintains strict adherence to confidentiality standards at all times
  • Performs other assignments that become necessary to perform in carrying out the daily functions of the facility, including clerical duties such as filing, photocopying and collating
  • Assists team members with other tasks as needed
  • Ability to meet the public well and to deal effectively with their questions or problems, seeking assistance when needed.  Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers, employees, and officials in other departments
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Regardless of license/certification or experience, must be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong computer skills.  Ability to type 30 wpm.  Proficient with Word, Outlook, and Electronic Health Record software
  • To meet programming needs, must be willing to submit to flexible schedules and duty assignments.  If in personal recovery, demonstrates commitment to own recovery (one to two years of continuous sobriety is desired)
  • Keeps a current CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Pass Background Check and Drug Screen required
  • Valid TN D.L. with "F" endorsement required;  "F" endorsement can be obtained once hired

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Higher Learning Degree preferred but not required
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • One to three months related experience/training or equivalent combination of education and experience
